Even when its importance has been recognized, there are still some barriers preventing the implementation of meaningful engagement of civil society in decision-making processes. In this context, implementation science methods can provide robust tools to explore context-specific efforts and identify barriers and facilitators affecting meaningful engagement in diabetes-related policies, which in turn can provide concrete specific recommendations for future implementation strategies.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n
Describe barriers and facilitators for meaningful engagement in policy decision-making processes regarding Diabetes Mellitus (DM) according to different stakeholders, including patients and patient representatives, in Peru.<\/p>\n
Qualitative study in Peru during the years 2022-2023 to explore experiences regarding the participation of different stakeholders in policy decision-making processes. The study consists of in-depth interviews to people with T1DM and their caregivers who are active members of patients\u2019 organizations, patient representatives, health care personnel, institutions involved on civil society participation, researchers and government officials currently working on the NCDs strategy of the Ministry of Health and Social Security. We Will identify barrier and facilitators using two implementation science frameworks: capability, opportunity, motivation, and behavior (COM-B) model and the Theoretical Domains Framework (TDF).<\/p>\n
