Developing a mHealth intervention to strengthen the community mental health system in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic in Peru<\/strong><\/h2>\n

[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=\u00bb1\/3″][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner row_type=\u00bbrow\u00bb type=\u00bbfull_width\u00bb text_align=\u00bbleft\u00bb css_animation=\u00bb\u00bb css=\u00bb.vc_custom_1613264992601{padding-top: 40px !important;}\u00bb][vc_column_inner width=\u00bb2\/3″][vc_single_image image=\u00bb3951″ img_size=\u00bbfull\u00bb alignment=\u00bbcenter\u00bb][vc_column_text]In Peru, the COVID-19 pandemic negatively affected the health of the population; especially people with mental disorders, who experienced worsening symptoms, greater disability, and general discomfort.<\/p>\n

One of the measures taken by the Peruvian Ministry of Health (MoH) to reduce COVID-19 infections was the publication of regulations for remote health care, aimed at providing care in conditions of isolation and social distance. Likewise, and for the specific case of mental health, the MoH published guidelines for providing care through telemedicine from community mental health centers (CMHC). CMHC are specialized mental health centers at the primary care level, which are at the core of the mental health care network of the community care model.<\/p>\n

Considering the effectiveness that mobile health interventions have shown for the provision of mental health care, the purpose of this research project is to develop and test a mobile health strategy to strengthen the community mental health system and thus improve the quality of care of CMHC.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n
