Building sustainable and innovative research in cancer and cardiovascular disease: Planning the design and development of South American Center of Research Excellence in Chronic Non-communicable Diseases, SACREN (P20)

As the Latin American region completes its epidemiological, demographic and nutritional transition, there is an urgent need to improve strategies to reduce the growing burden of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs). Since many of the risk factors are common to NCDs, especially cardiovascular and cancer, this study describes the design and development of the South American Center of Research Excellence in Chronic Non-communicable Diseases (SACREN), dedicated to establishing research related to the prevention and control of cancer and cardiovascular diseases (CVD).

Aim:

Design and development of South American Center of Research Excellence in Chronic Non-communicable Diseases (SACREN).

Study design:

The present is a study of planning and development of SACREN. This Center of Excellence conducts studies of analysis of secondary bases of projects that have ethical approval. Quantitative and qualitative designs are used for the different phases.
