ACCISS: Evaluation of the response of the health system to the access to insulin for people with Diabetes Mellitus type 1

Health systems in low and middle-income countries must adapt in order to respond to the needs of the population. Diabetes mellitus type 1 is a disease that begins in childhood or adolescence and that is characterized by chronicity in a very weak health system; however, there is no information about the response of the health system to this disease.
Aim:
Assess the facilitators and barriers that promote or hinder access to care for people with Type 1 diabetes in Lima, Peru.
Study design:
The study design includes mixed methods for evaluation of the health system, with the aim of describing the current situation of type 1 diabetes mellitus. The selected methodology follows the principles of the Rapid Assessment Protocol or Rapid Assessment Protocol, which involves key stakeholders and uses multiple data sources. The data from each source will be collected and analyzed either quantitatively and qualitatively.
